Meet the Gore Family
Phillip, Lanaya, Elizabeth, Jonathan & Phoebe
Phillip is home for lunch with his family just about every day. His favorite meal is taco crunch. He loves to preach and teach God’s word, put together Keynote Themes and websites when needed. Spending time with his family is a top priority. Checkers with Liz, wrestling with Jon, cuddling with Phoebe, and reading to Lanaya are some of his favorite family activities. He also likes to watch a good movie and keep his distance from McDonald’s.
Lanaya loves to educate her children using the Charlotte Mason method. She works with her hands on various projects especially knitting projects. She also serves at the church along with her husband mostly with the children’s ministry it seems, though some hosting and sewing projects have been known to show their face. Reading, trying new recipes, blogging (a great way to keep up with friends and family and for them to know what’s going on in our little world so far removed from theirs), and enjoying life with her husband and children are some favorite activities.
Elizabeth is named after her mother. Her first name is actually Lanaya but we call her Elizabeth to cut confusion. She is the oldest of the three yahoos. She loves to create new recipes, new styles of dresses (which she wants to take to Wal-mart and see if they’d buy them), new toys for her siblings and jokes that are corny but smart. She regularly beats her mom and dad at checkers (with no mercy from either of us) and will read for hours a day. However, she would rather be playing with friends than stuck in the house.
Jonathan is named after his father and grandfather. His middle name, Ashford, is a family name. However, we did consider naming him Reagan. He is all boy and a joy to be around. He continually asks to wrestle with his dad which he pronounces it “whistle”. Dad would rather whistle than wrestle, but, of course, gets on the floor and goes at it until Jonathan finally pins him for a count of 3. It's very exciting to watch. He wants to do what his older sister does, so he can’t wait to start school. He even wants the same consequences she gets when she has a bad attitude. He sees following rules as a game and believes it's his duty to let the nearest adult know when someone is not following the rules. He will also change the rules of a game if he doesn’t like how it’s going for him.
Phoebe is named Phoebe Ruth after her grandmother. People often think her name is Bebe because she cannot say the ph sound. She has attitude and spunk and needs more boundaries than her older brother and sister. She loves hugs and cuddling and praying. She lifts her hands in the air as she says “Amen!” as if she just won a prize. She’ll jump right in to any conversation as if she’s an integral part and explain and laugh and waggle her finger. I can’t wait to understand her clearly. She’s got so much to say! A favorite is, “I’m not a todd-er-wer! I’m Bebe!”
